Hi everyone! My name is Kalie Ching (she/her/hers), and I am an applied scientist at The AI Institute working at the intersection of AI, computer vision, and robotics.
Previously, I graduated from UC Berkeley with a major in computer science and a minor in data science. I am wrapping up undergraduate research tasks at the Mechanical Systems Control Laboratory and previously interned with The AI Institute for the fall of 2023. During my time at Berkeley, I taught EECS 16B as a Lab TA/tutor for four semesters. In the past, I interned at Cruise as an Autonomy Systems Engineer Intern, Microsoft as a Software Engineer Intern on the Azure Data team, and NASA as part of the Astrobee Facility Project at the Ames Research Center!
I'm broadly interested in autonomous intelligent systems. Particularly, I’m very curious about machine intelligence from both a cognitive science and HCI lens.
I studied fine arts for 13+ years at a local art studio. Some of my work is included below. When I'm not working, I love staying active (tennis, soccer, ice skating, gymming) and exploring fashion (sewing, designing, thrifting, styling).
